What ADAS is
ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems: lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign reading and automatic high beams. Most cars built in the last several years have a forward camera mounted to the windshield that feeds these systems.
Why calibration matters
Moving that camera by even a fraction of a degree can make it misjudge distance down the road. A system that brakes too late, or reads the lane wrong, is worse than no system. That's why automakers call for calibration whenever the windshield is replaced.
How we calibrate
- Static calibration: the car sits level in front of a precisely placed target board while the camera is re-aimed.
- Dynamic calibration: the camera re-learns the road during a drive at set speeds on clearly marked roads.
- Some vehicles need both. We follow the manufacturer's procedure for your exact make and model.
- You get confirmation that the system calibrated, before you drive away.
